Join us on June 17, 2010, for the second annual CMA Creative Leadership Awards – an elegant evening to celebrate this year’s award winner, from the public or private sector, and all CMAs who have used creative leadership to contribute to their organization’s success. The Creative Leadership Award winner is self-nominated or nominated by peers and colleagues, and chosen by a panel of experts including academics, journalists, government, and business leaders.

This elegant evening will hosted by Amanda Lang, co-host of the Lang & O'Leary Exchange and Senior Business Correspondent for CBC’s The National, and will feature a cocktail welcome and a sumptuous dinner followed by the special guest speaker and the award presentation.

We are pleased to announce that evening's special guest speaker is David Chilton, famed author of The Wealthy Barber, Canada's all-time bestselling book. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Wealthy Barber, David's ideas have proven to be timeless and unwaveringly pertinent.

The gala will be a focal point of the annual CMA Ontario Strategic Management Accounting Conference at the Doubletree by Hilton, Toronto Airport, on June 17, 2010.

Members of the judging panel have the distinguished task of selecting the recipients of the 2010 CMA Creative Leadership Awards. The 2010 panel of esteemed judges include:

  • Victoria Davies, CMA, CFO, Knightsbridge Human Capital Solutions, 2009 Creative Leadership Awards winner

  • Murray Lindo, CMA, Director, Ontario Ministry of Finance

  • Kevin Stolarick, Research Director, The Martin Prosperity Institute

  • Steve Maich, Editor of Canadian Business

  • The CMA Creative Leadership Award will be presented to a CMA, from the public or private sector, who has demonstrated creative leadership to produce significant results contributing to their company's success.

In selecting the award winner, judging panel members will consider how the nominee has achieved success based on one or a combination of the following criteria:

  • – envisioning a holistic business idea or strategy that was not previously conceived.

  • – generating successful ideas and solutions from a divergent thinking perspective ("thinking outside the box").

  • – exemplifying leadership in harnessing the energy and possibility of creative activity in a workplace.

  • – success in generating a creative idea and applying it in order to create a novel and viable product or service.

  • As success can be measured in a number of ways, so nominators are encouraged to include comprehensive information in their application package to show how the nominee made a significant and valuable contribution to their organization.

Public and private sector companies, as well as individuals, are eligible for the CMA Creative Leadership Awards. Companies may be nominated when a team of people, led by a CMA, has contributed towards an achievement.

To be eligible for the CMA Creative Leadership Awards, the nominee (individual or team lead) must be:

    • A resident of Ontario or conduct business in Ontario
    • A member in good standing of CMA Ontario

Nominees may not be the subject of any legal investigation. Nominees may not be a member of the selection committee, the CMA Board of Directors, or any other group that may constitute a conflict of interest.

CMA Ontario is pleased to congratulate the winner of the 2010 Creative Leadership Award!
